Our 2025 Mohawk Trail Challenge series to benefit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts features some changes to the schedule, trails and goals.
Since 2020, we have funded over 46,000 meals to the 4 counties in MA that this food bank serves. The problem of food insecurities is not getting better, it is getting much worse at an accelerated rate.
Our long term goal has been to try to raise enough money for 10,000 meals per year. When we started doing this, that meant $2,500. $1 used to fund 4 meals, last year it only funded 3 meals - and you helped to exceed our goals with over 12,000 meals. Right now, $1 is only supplying 2 meals. So to reach our goal, we need to try to raise $5,000. Half on Nov 9th and half on Nov 29th.
The club officers also don’t want to fleece our friends, or ourselves. We want to keep the event affordable.
Quick math shows that each member that participates averages almost $100 in total donations, usually with a $50 ticket and a donation. Balancing this equation AND providing an epic guided trail ride at an affordable price is a challenge.
If we have 30 rigs in two groups of 15 - it’s too many and it’s only $1500 in tickets. So to balance the price out and try to maximize fun, I have done something with ticket sales I have never done.
We’re allowing you to buy two 4x4 tickets for yourself. The website does the math and you can take up two spots with one rig. It makes for manageable group sizes that cover twice as much ground.
What this equation does not do is increase our actual revenue. For that, we need further donations. Tee shirt sales are coming soon, too.
We are kicking off the series on Sunday November 9th, to try to beat the winter weather and snowmobile season on the most challenging trails. We will continue the series on Saturday November 29th in Central MA.
This invitation is for Nov 9th, and we will have two groups. Rig Requirements will vary between the two groups, as one primary trail is considerably more difficult than the other. Both groups will utilize various unmaintained roads in the area as well.
Black Trails will include Old Florida Rd, which is deemed a Legacy Trail by TREAD Lightly! and has visitors from all over the country. 33" tires (minimum), a winch and two lockers are required. 35" tires (minimum), one locker and a winch are also acceptable. ALL RIGS MUST HAVE A WORKING WINCH ON THIS TRAIL.
Blue Trails will be required to have 33" tires, one locking differential and a winch or two locking differentials.
Our rig requirements are for your safety and those around you.

In Massachusetts, there is a requirement of an Off-Highway Vehicle Registration, issued by the MA Environmental Police Bureau of Registrations. For more information, click here: https://mohawk4x4adventures.com/ma-ohv-registration/ This requirement includes all passenger vehicles when used on unimproved terrain, both public and private, for recreation.
This invitation is being sent to members, however, if a member wants to invite guests and send your guest the invitation and password - that's fine. In fact, that's cool. Their 4x4s just have to meet the rig requirements, too.
Thank you for reading all that. :)
